Wright, Patience (1725-1786)

Spy, wax model artist.

Went to London (1772). Set up shop making wax portraits of important personages, including Franklin and the king and queen. Her familiarity with the royal family allowed her access to military and political information which she reported to Franklin.

Born Patience Lovell in Bordentown, New Jersey. Married in 1748 to Joseph Wright; three children.
