Massachusetts lawyer and politician.

Graduated from Yale College (1742). Admitted to the bar (1749). Member of the Massachusetts assembly (1751, 1754-55, 1766-76) where he was allied with revolutionary patriots including John Adams and James Otis. Retired from public life (1776).
