Cadet in the Saintonge regiment (1781). Served in Rochambeau’s army in America. Sous-lieutenant (1782). Lieutenant (1791). Emigrated (1791) and served in the royalist “armée de Condé.” Chevalier de Saint-Louis (1796). Resided in the United States (1803-15).

Son of Etienne and Louise (Daniau de Groy) Du Ponceau. Brother of Peter S. Du Ponceau and Louise Geneviève Du Ponceau.
