Lauron, Louis-François Eldrad du Puy de (b. 1741)

Commission seeker.

By his own account, he fought in Germany in the Seven Years’ War. Served for two years in St.-Domingue. Held the rank of major (c. 1772). Also wrote on military matters. Overdue for a promotion, he considered himself a lieutenant-colonel.

His requests for a colonelcy and an infantry command were turned down by Franklin.
