Dutch merchant and American sympathizer.
Resided in Connecticut. Wrote an account of the British army’s cruelties that Jonathan Trumbull hoped would attract Dutch support for the United States. Brother-in-law of a friend of Joan Derk van der Capellen tot den Pol; facilitated contact between van der Capellen, Trumbull, and William Livingston.
