Ehlers, Martin (1732-1800)

German philosopher and pedagogue.

Rector of Segeberg Latin School (1760). Professor and rector of Altona Gymnasium (1771). Professor of philosophy at the University of Kiel (1776). Published works on a wide range of subjects, including foreign language instruction, religious toleration, and the morality of pleasure. Promoted the inclusion of art, music, and sports in school curricula.

Educated at Göttingen.
