Clerk of the States General at the Hague.
Scion of a distinguished Dutch political family. Clerked for his uncle François Fagel (1659-1746), first clerk of the States General. Succeeded his uncle as clerk of the States General (1744-90). Supported Willem IV and the House of Orange. Exercised considerable influence in Dutch politics, owing to extensive knowledge and long service.
Son of Cornelis Gerrit and Elisabeth (Dierquens) Fagel. Married Catharina Anna Sluyskens; seven children.
