Slave of William Robeson.
Sold to Robeson by Peter Amiel. Ran away from Robeson (May 1780); apprehended (July 1780), imprisoned at the Petit Châtelet, and eventually returned to his master. Ran away at least twice more (1781, 1782).
On one occasion, William Temple Franklin invited Montague to lodge with the Franklins at Passy while Robeson considered Montague’s request to employ him as a free man.
