Pennsylvania politician and Quaker.

Subscriber to the Library Company. Signed the acceptance of the Library Company charter (1742). Elected, with Franklin, as a representative from Philadelphia to the Pennsylvania Assembly (1754). Dissented to the Assembly’s report on Quakers (1755). Eventually resigned from the Assembly.
