Violinist in the Mannheim court orchestra (1762-70). Director and composer for Louis, duc de Noailles (1771). Performed in England, the Netherlands, and the German states. Composed more than 100 symphonies and concertos, as well as vocal and chamber music.

Member of a prominent Mannheim musical family.
