Initially sympathetic to the Revolution, he soon resigned his commission and emigrated to England (1791-1800). Later served as captain of the King’s guard and lieutenant general under Louis XVIII.
Son of Philippe de Noailles, the Maréchal- Duc de Mouchy, and his wife Anne-Claudine- Louise d’Arpajon. First cousin once-removed of Lafayette. Married Anne-Louise-Marie de Beauvau (1767).
