Carabineer (1768). Colonel of Noailles- dragons (1774). Captain in King’s guard (1775). Brigadier (1784). Deputy of the nobility to the Estates General (1789). Initially sympathetic to the Revolution, he soon resigned his commission and emigrated to England (1791-1800). Later served as captain of the King’s guard and lieutenant general under Louis XVIII.
Son of Philippe de Noailles, the Maréchal- Duc de Mouchy, and his wife Anne-Claudine- Louise d’Arpajon. First cousin once-removed of Lafayette. Married Anne-Louise-Marie de Beauvau (1767).
