Bradford, William, Jr. (1745-1795)

Prominent jurist.

During the American Revolution, Bradford rose to the rank of colonel before resigning from the army due to poor health (1779).

Attorney general of Pennsylvania (1780-91). Pennsylvania Supreme court justice (1791-94). United States attorney general (1794-95).

Great-grandson of colonial printing pioneer William Bradford, and the son of William Bradford the “patriot-printer of 1776,” both of whom had dealings with Franklin.

Born in Philadelphia. A.B., College of New Jersey (1772). Married Susan Vergereau Boudinot (daughter of Elias Boudinot).
