South Carolina planter and surveyor.
Immigrated from Ireland. Purchased Jericho Plantation, 22 miles west of Charleston (c. 1756). Planted mulberry trees and sought to raise silk. Deputy surveyor of South Carolina (1763); commissioned to survey lands disputed by South Carolina and Georgia. Justice of the peace and member of the Prince William Parish committee.
Married Judith Gignilliat (1752); several children.
