Army officer.
Most likely the army officer engaged in 1765 in unsuccessful recruiting in Wiltshire. Moved to America before 1770, when he was appointed justice of the peace in Monmouth County, New Jersey. In 1776, he boasted twenty-eight years of military experience and offered his services. He apparently received a military appointment in 1776 and left for Quebec.
