Settled in the Wyoming Valley (c. 1770); established a chain of Indian trading posts along the Susquehanna River. Ensign in Continental Army (1776-78). Justice of the peace and of the court of common pleas. First treasurer of Luzerne County. Lieutenant-colonel of the Luzerne County militia (1787).
