Foulke, John (1757-1796)

Quaker physician.

Philadelphia native. Son of Franklin correspondent Judah Foulke.

Travelled to Europe (1780). Studied medicine in Paris, Leipzig, and, after the war, London. After completing his training abroad, Foulke returned to Philadelphia. Served on the staff of the Pennsylvania Hospital.

Member of the American Philosophical Society. Friend of William Temple Franklin.
