Entered the Sulpician order and was sent to Canada. After his ordination in Montreal (1755), he served in Canada as a parish priest until 1779. The victim of religious persecution, he returned to France.

Went to the United States and served in various capacities from 1785 to 1798. Author of Vraie histoire; ou, Simple précis des infortunes, pour ne pas dire des persecutions, qu’a souffert et souffre encore le Rév. P.H. de la V. (Albany, 1792). Returned to Canada.

Born in France. Died at L’Assomption, Lower Canada.
