Sea captain.

Commissioned to command the brig General Mercer (April 30, 1777). He and Captain John Kendrick falsely entered prizes they brought in to Nantes in August 1777 as coming from St Eustatius, whereas they came from Jamaica. The French government seized the captures as illegal, and a long controversy ensued.

Later commanded the brigantine Phoenix, out of Newburyport (1778).
