Assessor and attaché for foreign affairs in the Duchy of Zweibrücken (1785). Moved to Stralsund, Sweden, where he served as a barrister (1788), privy councillor (1789), and chancellor (1810). Knighted (1816).

Educated at Giessen and Göttingen.
