Finley, Samuel (1715-1766)

Presbyterian clergyman and scholar.

An immigrant from Ireland, Finley went to Philadelphia (1734). Ordained (1742).

One of the leading figures of the Great Awakening. Famous for his sermons and theological tracts. Elected president of the College of New Jersey (1761).

Born in County Armagh, Ireland. Married to Sarah Hall, and in 1761 to Anne Clarkson.
