Lieutenant (1757), captain (1769) in the Deux-Ponts regiment. Obtained a two-year leave to serve in America. Captured and imprisoned in St. Augustine; exchanged. Chevalier de Saint-Louis (1779). Joined the Deux-Ponts regiment in Rhode Island (1780).
