Rose to prominence during the empire as president of the electoral college of the Vendée and senator (1804). Member of the Legion of Honor. Comte de l’Empire (1808) and peer of France (1814).

Son of Claude, comte de Beauharnais, and Marie-Anne-Françoise (Mouchard) de Beauharnais. Married Claude-Françoise- Gabrielle-Adrienne de Lezay-Marnésia. Married Suzanne-Elisabeth-Sophie Fortin- Duplessis in 1799; one daughter. Name also spelled “Beauharnois.”
