Wrote to Franklin and William Temple Franklin and demanded the return of a portrait of his wife. In a rather hostile reply, Temple agreed to return the portrait on the condition that Lady Nicholson would first return a portrait of him which was in her possession.
In a letter of September 13, 1781, Temple asked Richard Bache to inquire after the well- being of Sir James Nicholson, whom Temple described as the brother-in-law of a lady of his acquaintance.
