Boston lawyer and legislator.
Active in local affairs. Author of Consideration on Lowering the Value of Gold Coins, within the Province of Massachusetts Bay (Boston, 1762) and one or two other pamphlets. Served in the Massachusetts General Court (1763-65). Influential patriot; friend of John Adams.
Son of Oxenbridge and Elizabeth (Hobby) Lillie Thacher of Boston. Educated at Harvard (B.A. 1738). Married his stepsister Sarah Doggett (1741); eight children.
