Bond, Phineas (1717-1773)

Prominent Philadelphia physician.

Brother of Thomas Bond (1713-1784), who together with Franklin, founded the Pennsylvania Hospital. Went abroad to study medicine (1741). Received his medical degree at Rheims.

Like his brother, he was a common councilor, an original member of the American Philosophical Society, a trustee of the College of Philadelphia, and a physician to the Pennsylvania Hospital.

Born in Calvert County, Maryland. Father of Phineas Bond, Jr.
