Adams, Samuel (1722-1803)

Patriot and statesman. Member of Congress (1774-81).

Adams, who was instrumental in bringing the “Hutchinson papers” to press, is most famous as an agitator who stirred up popular sentiment against the British prior to the Revolutionary War.

Born in Boston. Married in 1749 to Elizabeth Checkley; in 1764 to Elizabeth Wells.
