Haywood, William

Merchant.

Business associate of James Price in Montreal. He and Price helped the Americans in the Canadian campaign. By way of settlement they received a sizable draft on the commissioners (October 1777).

Arrived in Paris before April 11, 1778, and carried one of Franklin’s letters to Bordeaux.

Went into business with John Bondfield, America’s commercial agent at Bordeaux. Their firm, Bondfield, Haywood & Company, outfitted privateers and shipped various goods to America during the war.
