Often wrote Franklin on behalf of his brother, Geoffroy Chalut de Vérin, farmer general (1754-87), who resided in St. Cloud.
He and his friend the Abbé Arnoux, from whom he was inseparable, resided at Chalut de Vérin’s home on the Place Vendôme. They also had a summer home near Franklin in Passy. They formed a relationship with him which continued years after Franklin left France. American enthusiasts, they taught John Adams French (1778).
