Judge of the Delaware Supreme Court (1743). Port collector, New Castle (1744). Speaker of the Delaware Assembly. Treasurer and trustee of the loan office for the three lower counties. Notified the Pennsylvania Assembly of the Spanish raid on Bombay Hook (1747).
Son of Jehu Curtis, a prominent Delaware officeholder. A close friend of Franklin, who may have composed the epitaph on Curtis’s tombstone in Immanuel churchyard, New Castle, Delaware.
