Merchant of Antigua.

Partner in the firm Birkett and Booth of St. John’s, Antigua. Toured New England, New York, and Philadelphia and kept a detailed diary of his trip (1750-51). His name followed that of Franklin’s nephew Benjamin Mecom in the Antigua census of 1753. Asked Franklin’s advice about the construction of lightning rods (1754).
