Leased the Boston Linen Manufactory House (c. 1758); defended the building against forcible attempts to occupy it (1768). Commander of the Dispatch (April 1778). Captured by the British; escaped. Briefly joined the Bonhomme Richard, but his commission was superseded. Pilot of the Sensible (1779).
