Practiced medicine in Green Harbor and Kingston, Massachusetts. Military surgeon in Seven Years’ War. Justice of the peace (1770). Brigadier general in Continental Army (June 1775); commanded American troops at Roxbury, Massachusetts (1775-76).
Son of John and Lydia (Waterman) Thomas of Marshfield, Massachusetts. Married Hannah Thomas in 1761; three children. Died of smallpox during siege of Quebec.
