Patriot and politician.
Educated in law, Boudinot became active in New Jersey politics and served in its provincial Assembly. He was a member of Congress (1777-84; president 1782).
Boudinot was later an influential Federalist, a delegate to the United States House of Representatives, and director of the United States mint.
Born in Philadelphia. Son of Franklin’s Philadelphia friend and neighbor, Elias Boudinot. Married Hannah Stockton in 1762, one daughter.
