Harvard tutor and bookseller.
Taught school and preached itinerantly. Tutor at Harvard College (1776-80). Helped found the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (1780). Traveled to France and Holland (1780-81) and purchased stock for the bookstore that he opened in Boston upon his return.
Son of Benjamin and Abigail (Graves) Guild of Wrentham, Massachusetts. Educated at Harvard (B.A., 1769). Married Elizabeth Quincy in 1784; had issue.
