Prominent Philadelphia merchant.

Partner in the firm Joshua Fisher & Sons (1762-83) and later in Thomas, Samuel, & Miers Fisher (1783-92). Also interested in lumbering, paper manufacturing, and brewing. Member of the American Philosophical Society (1768). Manager of the Pennsylvania Hospital (1775). Exiled to Virginia as a Loyalist (1776-78).

Quaker. Son of Joshua and Sarah (Rowland) Fisher; brother of Miers Fisher. Married Sarah Logan in 1772; seven children.
