Author of Bath and It’s Environs, A Descriptive Poem, in Three Cantos (Bath: printed by R. Cruttwell, for J. Almon … London; and W. Frederick … Bath, 1775). Hippisley’s interest in the “Analysis of Oratory” suggests that he may have been related to the family of dramatists of the same name who were active in England and Ireland from the 1720s until c. 1780. The family was based in Somerset, which might account for Hippisley’s familiarity with Bath.
