Son of the printer James Parker. Briefly resided with Franklin, who enrolled him in the Academy of Philadelphia (1752). Suffered a long illness during the winter of 1765-1766. Sent to England by his father (1768), who frequently complained in his letters to Franklin of his son’s wild behavior while abroad. Returned to New York (January 1769). Informed Franklin of his father’s death.
Married in 1764 to Sarah Ford (or Foord) (d. 1768) of Woodbridge, New Jersey; issue one daughter. Married in 1769 to Mary Moore.
