Relative of Deborah Franklin
Immigrated to Pennsylvania soon after his father’s death with a cargo of merchantable goods and a letter of introduction from Franklin to Deborah Franklin (1771). Became an iron manufacturer. Supplied arms to American troops during Revolutionary war. Later suffered financial difficulties and appealed to Franklin for employment (1787).
Born in Birmingham, England; probably the son of John Tiler or Joseph Tiler, both first cousins of Deborah Franklin.
