Served as captain in the regiment of Rion. Abandoned the French service to pursue a literary career. Proposed to write “Une Nouvelle histoire du marechal de Turenne” and to dedicate the work to Washington (1778).

Author of Amusements philosophiques (The Hague, 1764); Mémoires du chevalier de Kilpar (Paris, 1768); Eloge historique de Gaspard-Belon de Fontenay (Paris, 1770); L’Esprit de Madame de Maintenon (Paris, 1771); and Mémoires de Miladi de Varmonti, comtesse de Barneshau (Paris, 1778).
