Moffatt, Thomas (c. 1702-1787)

Physician.

Moved to Newport, Rhode Island (1729). In addition to practicing medicine, Moffatt was also an art collector, scientific experimenter, librarian, and snuff-mill proprietor.

Moffatt’s support of royal authority made him unpopular in the years leading up to to American Revolution, and he eventually retired to England.
