Fisher, Miers (1748-1819)

Philadelphia lawyer.

Read law with Benjamin Chew. Admitted to the bar (1769). Exiled to Virginia during Revolutionary War. Subsequently returned to Philadelphia and served in the Pennsylvania Assembly (1791-92). Active in Society for the Abolition of Slavery. Director of the Bank of North America.

Quaker. Son of Joshua and Sarah (Rowland) Fisher of Philadelphia. Married Sarah Redwood (1774); sixteen children.
