Former apprentice of his brother-in-law and partner, Gavin Hamilton, with whom he published the Edinburgh Chronicle (1759-60). Friend of William Strahan. Franklin probably met him during his visit to Edinburgh (1759).
Threatened to sue James Parker for a debt owed to him and to Hamilton, on account of a shipment of books they had sent to Parker at Franklin’s request.
