Officer in the French guards, writer, agriculturalist, and chevalier de Saint-Louis.
Author of Le grand-oeuvre de l’agriculture, ou l’art de régénerer les surfaces et les très- fonds (1779). It was probably this work that he sent to Franklin.
His offer to form a company that would survey the land of the United States was rejected by Franklin. Ponçins also sent Franklin a prospectus on education and inquired about purchasing land in the United States, where he hoped to settle and perfect his talent as an agriculturalist.
