Specialized in West Indian trade, in partnership with his cousin Richard Oliver, M.P. (who was also his brother-in-law, having married Thomas’s sister Mary). Radical candidate for Parliament but obliged to withdraw due to illness (1770).
Son of Richard and Mary (Langford) Oliver of Antigua; the family later settled at Leyton, Essex (c. 1750). Married his cousin Isabella Langford; five children.
