American naval officer.
Commissioned captain of marines on sloop Warren (June 1776). Instrumental in having Esek Hopkins suspended from command of the Warren for ridiculing Continental Congress, mistreating prisoners, and alienating crew (1777). Transferred to the Boston and awarded £36 by Navy Board (November 1777). One of those who petitioned for a convoy from Nantes to America (November 1778).
