His successful work, De la passion du jeu, depuis les temps anciens jusqu’à nos jours, attracted the attention of the French parliament, which soon thereafter abolished gambling houses. Wrote his account of the taking of the Bastille, De l’insurrection parisienne et de la prise de la Bastille (1790).
