Postal official, Loyalist.
Brother of Philadelphia postmaster Thomas Foxcroft, who also corresponded with Franklin. Deputy postmaster for North America (1761-75), in which capacity he worked with Franklin.
The correspondence between Foxcroft and Franklin, which contained both friendly and official letters, ended abruptly in 1775, presumably due to political differences.
Married in 1770 to Judith Osgood (an acquaintance of Franklin, who gave her away at the London wedding); issue includes two daughters.
