Learned printing trade in her brother William’s Providence shop (c. 1762) and continued the business with her mother after William moved to Philadelphia (1765). Worked in William’s Philadelphia shop (1768-74). Printed the Maryland Journal; and the Baltimore Advertiser (1774-84). Postmistress of Baltimore (1775-89). Later kept a bookshop.
Daughter of Dr. Giles and Sarah (Updike) Goddard of Connecticut. Never married.
