Member (1776), vice-president (1777) of Philadelphia Council of Safety. Appointed to Board of War (1777).
Quaker. Son of Anthony and Phoebe (Guest) Morris of Philadelphia. Brother of James and Joseph Morris; nephew of Luke Morris. Married Hannah Cadwalader, sister of Dr. Thomas Cadwalader (1737); ten children.
