Sous-lieutenant of dragoons in the French army (1768); lieutenant (1772), captain (1778). Traveled to America with his brother and served in the Continental Army (1777-80), rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel. Aide- de-camp to General Thomas Conway. Subsequently returned to the French service. Chevalier de Saint-Louis (1788). Killed in the French Revolution.
